In true Navy fashion this gin is proofed strong at 57.1% – packed with sharp, peppery juniper and lemon peel with a surprisingly soft finish.
Suggested serve: Elderflower soda and a lemon wedge
Pairs well with: Oysters, dry sparkling wine, fresh citrus
Tasting Notes:
The palate is intense with cinnamon spice, reminiscent of red hot candy, dominating. Lavender, orange and a touch of vanilla appear after the shock of the intense spice subsides. The texture is rich and creamy, but it not enough to balance the intense heat. This gin finishes short and simple.
Some really great characters here with the nose being powerful and varied with the botanical notes. Flavours are good on the palate and it’s got a lot of ABV to contend with but even with that, a finely made, mostly balanced fiery gin.
