COVID-19 Policies & Procedures

In accordance with current public health recommendations, our Cocktail Lounge is open for guests. We do not require proof of vaccination and the wearing of face masks is at our guests’ discretion. Guests who have flu-like symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 over the last two weeks, or are awaiting test results, should not visit public establishments.

We regularly review our policies and procedures to ensure the safety for our staff and guests, and to ensure compliance with current public health guidelines. Our staff is trained with Manitoba Clean it Right Program and we follow the enhanced cleaning protocols.

In the event of an exposure at our location, we will ensure that the bar and distillery are thoroughly cleaned, staff will be tested and will require a negative test before returning to work.  Booked tours will be cancelled and rescheduled.

Where can I purchase your spirits?

All of our spirits are available directly at the distillery or through our online store.
You can also find our spirits at numerous local markets in Winnipeg and surrounding areas (e.g., St. Norbert, Wolseley, Transcona BIZ, Pine Ridge Hollow, South Osborne Farmers Market, East St. Paul).
Our Vodka, London Dry Gin, and Purple Blossom Gin is also sold at most Manitoba Liquor Marts.

Are your spirits available to purchase at the distillery?

Yes, and what’s more — we have limited release exclusives that you can only find directly from us.

We also have a large collection of  bar supplies that every amateur or professional mixologist needs to have on-hand for the perfect cocktail, including syrups, bitters, cordials, mixes, olives, cherries, and bar tools. Check out our online shop to order all your cocktail needs.

Do you deliver locally or ship orders outside of Manitoba?

Orders over $60 are eligible for delivery in Winnipeg (inside the Perimeter Highway) for a $6.00 delivery fee.

We ship everywhere else in Canada using Canada Post. The shipping charge is calculated at Checkout on our online Shop.

You can also choose to pick up your order from the Patent 5 Distillery at 108 Alexander Ave in Winnipeg. We’re here from 10 am – 5 pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 10 am – 11 pm Wednesday to Saturday. When buying online,  select Pick-up and choose the day when you want to pick up your order.

Can I order online and pick up my order at Patent 5?

Yes you can!

When buying online, at Checkout, select Pick-up as your shipping method. We promise your order will be ready by 5 pm the next day, but likely sooner. We’ll send you an email to let you know when your order is ready for pickup. (If you’re in a rush, call us and we’ll see how we can help get your order ready earlier.)

We’re usually here from 10 am – 5 pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 10 am – 11 pm Wednesday to Saturday. You’ll find us at Patent 5 Distillery at 108 Alexander Ave in Winnipeg.

Do you sell gift cards?

Gift cards for use at the distillery and in our Cocktail Bar can be purchased in any amount from the distillery during retail and bar opening hours.

You can also purchase gift cards online for use in our online Shop. Keeping track of your gift cards and their balance is easy when you create an account on our website.

Why should I create an account on your website?

Creating an account on the Patent 5 website provides you with a number of useful features that save you time and make it easy to find the information you want.

These features include:

  • Save billing addresses and shipping addresses you use regularly, and access these directly from the Checkout page
  • Save payment methods you use regularly, and access these directly from the Checkout page
  • Track your gift cards and gift card balances
  • Add items to your “My Favorites” list, making it easy to order them in the future
  • View all the orders you’ve placed
What are your hours?

We are open for retail sales and pick-up orders Monday-Saturday between 10am- 5 pm.

Our Cocktail Bar is open for drinks, food and retail sales, and order pick up, Wednesday to Saturday between 4pm-11pm.

Hours may be subject to change due to Public Health Restrictions related to COVID-19.

Do you take reservations?

We do not accept reservations.
We operate a walk-in and wait list system. Feel free to call ahead if you are 15 minutes (or less) away and we will be happy to either hold a table for you, or add you to our wait list. If you are on a wait list, you will have 15 minutes from the time we text you to be at the distillery.

We will review our wait list policy if necessary to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

What’s the deal with food?

We do not have a kitchen, but we do serve charcuterie boards/plates- meat, cheese and vegan options available. Also available are light snack options. Check our Instagram page for menu options.
Please note that we
do not allow food or drinks to be brought in from elsewhere.

What is your maximum group size?

We do our best to accommodate up to 8 folks at a table due to the cozy nature of our space. 

Considerations due to restrictions may affect our ability to seat larger groups.

Do you offer tours and sampling?

Yes, we offer Distillery Tours at 4 pm on Thursdays and Fridays. Distillery tours are approximately 45 minutes and include a sampling of our spirits. 

You can purchase Tour tickets by visiting the Tours and Events page of our website.

Our regularly scheduled tours can accommodate a maximum of 12 participants. We are happy to arrange private tours for larger groups upon request. Tours can be arranged through our website or by emailing info@patent5.ca.

Do you host private events?

We would love to host your special occasion!

Pricing varies depending on what you have in mind. We will be glad to work with you to plan and prepare your special event to make it a success.

Is your space accessible?

All areas of our distillery are wheelchair accessible. If there is anything we can do to make your visit a smoother experience, please do not hesitate to drop us a line or let us know if you feel comfortable doing so.

When will the whisky be ready?!

Our distillers have been very busy making whisky. We have a number of whiskies ageing in oak casks, and we hope to release our whisky in the fall of 2022. 

Believe us when we say — you’ll be the first to know. 

Are children allowed into the distillery?

Yes, under-18s are permitted in the distillery and bar until 8pm. Please note that our washrooms are not fitted with changing tables at this time.

Are your products Gluten-free?

Gluten does not make it through the distillation process and as such, we are happy to share that our spirits are gluten free. More info on this can be found at https://celiac.org/gluten-free-living/gluten-free-foods/
